Mystic Spice Brussels Sprouts: A Cumin-Amchur Sauté

Ingredients:


From the Spice Box

  1. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  2. 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  3. A dash of amchur powder


For the Brussels Sprouts:

  1. 1 lb (450g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil

  3. Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced

  5. Optional: A pinch of red chili flakes for heat

Instructions:

Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:

  1. Sauté Cumin Seeds: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

  2. Cook Brussels Sprouts: Add the Brussels sprouts to the skillet, cut side down, and cook without stirring for about 3-4 minutes until they start to brown.

  3. Season: Sprinkle the ground cumin, amchur, salt, pepper, and garlic over the Brussels sprouts. If using, add the chili flakes.

  4. Stir and Cook: Stir the Brussels sprouts and continue to cook for another 5-8 minutes until they are tender and caramelized.

  5. Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Serve:

  1. Serve Hot: Serve the Brussels sprouts hot as a side dish.
